Who can enter the competition?
Anyone aged 14-19 years between 1st February and 15th May 2008 and attending school in Europe except National Geographic Society and its affiliates' employees and their families.

What is the challenge?
We want you to come up with an idea as to how you would promote sustainable solutions to help combat climate change.

Can groups enter?
Yes, we accept entries from groups of up to four students. All entrants must be registered on the Entry form and have to be aged 14–19.

What can I win?
You have the chance to win a place on an Earthwatch Volunteer Expedition to Puerto Rico where you will be able to contribute to an important project researching into the sustainable use of tropical rainforest.

What exactly should my entry include?
Your entry should be a paper based description of your project. In your essay, you will lay out your idea, use diagrams and illustrations where appropriate and convince us why your idea is the best.

What format should my entry be in?
Your entry must be type written and submitted online. Entries in any other form cannot be accepted. Your name, address and school should appear in the footer of each page. Pages have to be numbered. You need to complete the Entry form in full when submitting your project.

How long should my entry be?
Your entry shouldn’t exceed 1,500 words.

Do I have to fill out an entry form?
Yes, all entries must be accompanied by an entry form. Entries without a form cannot be accepted.

Will my details be used for anything other than the entry into the competition?
No. All personal details are for use in conjunction with the competition only.

Where do I send my entry?
Entries must be submitted electronically via the Combat Climate Change Website.

What language should my entry be in?
Entries should be in English.

What happens once I have entered?
From 15th May to the end of July 2008, six regional winners will be chosen, one from Denmark, Finland, Germany, Poland, Sweden, and one from the rest of Europe.

The overall and regional winners will be announced by the end of September 2008.

We regret that we can only notify winners.

Can I get my entry returned to me when the competition has closed?
We cannot return any competition entries to the entrants. If you would like to keep a copy of your proposal you should make one before sending it in.

What will my entry be judged on?
Your entry will be judged on content, structure originality of ideas and presentation. You will also need to demonstrate good knowledge of climate change and sustainable energies.

Who will be judging my entry?
Shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel of experts including editors from National Geographic and Vattenfall employees.

Can I use ideas from other projects?
All work submitted has to be your own. You can use ideas from other projects only if these are your own. You must not copy ideas from other publications or the internet.
